I found out yesterday from the surgeon I saw back in August that he thinks the radiologist who looked over my CT scan did a horrible job, and that my aortic root is actually at 5.3 cm instead of just 4.3 cm

I'm sorry you are having such a bad run, hopefully this will be the end of it for a good long while. Normally, I would threaten offer to come visit you in the hospital, but I'm pretty sure flying to Europe is not in the budget. But hey, if all goes well, maybe you can get in some of the regular tourist stuff while you're there. In the meantime (or afterward), if there's anything I can do, you need only say the word, and I'll be there.
I appreciate the sentiment; yeah, I'm hoping I can turn it into a positive thing somehow.
Actually, you have already helped some, what with sharing about your own surgery stuff in my previous post. I didn't know that I knew anyone who had undergone something like this at a younger age, so that was encouraging.
If you have to have surgery, I've no doubt that younger is better. I am sure that I would not recover as quickly at 45 as I did at 25 (or 29). But if you have need or want of anything else, all of my contact information is on Facebook, so feel free to contact me at any time.
