In its current form, the virus can only be transmitted from bird to human, so poultry farmers are really the only people who have to worry. The concern is that the virus will mutate into a form that is transmitted from human to human. If that happens, it will spread like wildfire, infecting millions. That's what happened in the 1918 flu pandemic, which killed more Americans than all the wars of the 20th century combined.

Bird flu is waneing in the countries that it first appeared in. Also, da flu has not made its way to the Americas via migratory birds. This is great news and we should celebrate. Break out the good champaigne.
