so i'll be building a laptop for college (okay, more like my mom is going to put it together).

here are the preliminary parts:
Barebones case: Asus Z96JS (15.4", ATI X1600)
CPU: Intel C2D T7200 Merom 2.0ghz
Mem: G.Skill 2x1gb DDR2 667
HD: Seagate Momentus 7200RPM SATA150 100gb
Optical: Samsung 8xDVD+RW Slim DVD Burner

total cost is about $1200

because if i buy it from like HP or Sony, with those specs, it'd be over $2k
