I love the dynamic, that Dean is basically letting Sam be in control, because he needs it so badly. Dean sure loves his Sammy! But it's also something Dean needs for the exact same reason - he can let go of control when he needs to. And neither of those can do that with other people, they can't trust them enough. So even through all the guilt, and the worries, and the other people, they HAVE to give this to each other.
