Hoist the colours

Best news I've heard all day.

Maybe we'll get someone who actually has a clue what those things called characters are.

That's what I said the other day, when the news was posted at potc_discussion. And that they could use a couple of new writers as well.

I honestly think that GV exhausted himself with the characters half way through DMC and ended up filling it with hamster toys.

With regard to TnT, I've always wondered how they're script would've turned out in different circumstances. I think a lot of what they wrote was dictated by factors outwith their control. That said I think P4 is an ideal opportunity for fresh blood all round. Apart from Johnny, of course ;)

I agree - and I'm trying to imagine Jerry Bruckheimer and Tim Burton on the same film set, but...my brain can't go there. Not sure there's any truth to that rumor, anyway, although I've heard it elsewhere, too.

I do hope we will get to see the characters talk to each other, sometimes, and do piratey things that don't involve blowing things up.

The lack of GV involvement is the main thing I'm celebrating with this movie, but the TB thing I'm taking with a pinch of salt. I just can't see Pirates wearing stripy tights and the caribbean being all black and red ;)

But yeah, character stuff! That's what we want!

Sorry - I do understand that the huzzahs are for the absence of GV :-) No, I don't see Pirates as TB's genre (although I have heard he makes a mean omelette). Bruckheimer was responsible for at least a few of those hamster toys, IMHO. Hopefully he can keep his ego fingers out of the P4 pie *g*

Yeah, you're probably right with that. Stupid, meaningless set pieces. I hope we get a director who has the balls enough to hold his own with JB.

And Burtonesque omelettes! I'll order a helping of those! lol

A Burton Pirates 4? Wow. I might actually watch that.

I'm dubious about the Burton rumour, but anyone would be better than Verbinski, right?

Fab news! Who knows, we might actually get - dare I say it - character development! *gasp*

But LOL at the Tim Burton rumour. I don't think JD's made a single movie in recent years where TB's not been rumoured to direct! I'll have to ponder the notion of TB in the pirate universe...

Character Development? Now don't be greedy, Sal!

And yeah the Burton thing is a seasonal staple. In fact, rumour has it that Johnny Depp's cook has resigned and that the post will now be filled by Tim Burton.

I'm really doubtful whether the BUrton thing is true, but as long as Verbinski won't be ruining another Pirates movie I'm very happy :D

Hopefully they will find somebody in love with the characters but a bit less in love with special effects ^^

Couldn't agree more!
