So, zombie feeding and breeding was on my mind a while back. I was wondering if the movie-style zombie horde is actually a myth. I think free-roaming zombie packs of about 5 are the way to go. Look at it like this.. if you get bit by a zombie, then die, you're a zombie. If you get torn apart by a horde of zombies, you're in too many pieces to zombify. So there are two ways of looking at things.. both of these become true: only the strong people become zombies - ensuring that all zombies are strong, after the first generation dies out - and the zombie population reaches critical mass when there are too many zombies for any new people to become zombies. Either you can horde and end up with 200 zombies, no matter how huge the city is, or you can spread out in roving zombie packs which eat well and efficiently recruit superior zombie specimens.

I think further study is warranted here. Some cognitive scientist who understands food supply and flocking can probably help.
