The AU of a thoudand tears
Or perhaps not
SadAU where Ludwig and Alfred are preparing for their wedding day. Things were going nearly perfect for the two up until the actual day. Ludwig is standing at the alter, waiting for Alfred as is the rest of their families and guests. Everyone writes it off as Alfred simply being late, as it was typical of him anyhow. Just as Ludwig was fixing to find out where Alfred was a loud crash was heard down the street from the area of the wedding. "That looks like Alfred's car!" Maddie, Alfred's twin sister shouted. He and the rest of Alfred's family rush over to the scene only to witness the worst situation: Alfred had indeed gotten in the way of another car speeding away from police. The pursued person makes it out okay and tries to escape but Alfred is not so lucky. The impact killed him instantly.
Fast forward one month later, Ludwig is sitting in his bed alone. He still kept the wedding rings and the photos of his and Alfred's families from their wedding day. The only recent photo he had left of Alfred was from the day before. He was trying on his tuxedo and Ludwig took a quick picture on his phone. Ludwig never went a day after the accident without looking at the picture twice; once when he woke up and once right before bed. And in that month Alfred had been watching from beyond. He sees that Ludwig hasn't done any better since day one so he decides to visit him in a dream. In that time he tries to give Ludwig a message to let go and move on, to keep Alfred in his memory but to go on with his life for he had much left to do. The next morning Ludwig wakes up in a haze to find a blond feather sitting on his bedside table.
Another fast forward to one year after. Ludwig had recovered significantly though he still gets fits of depression and loneliness. With the help of divine intervention, Ivan Braginski is brought into the picture. He's an average man with a strained family bond, but he is able to push on with life with a bright childish smile. The two instantly click and spend time together. As Ivan spends his time with Ludwig, eventually learning about Alfred and helping him cope more, things seem to be looking up for Ludwig. It takes another fit of depression (one a little too extreme) and another visit from Alfred for Ludwig to finally come to terms and let Ivan in. In Alfred's second visit, he promises Ludwig that they would "meet up again real soon".
One more forward (either a few months or a year) in Ludwig and Ivan's relationship. The two marry and rent a home together. The details are still in the works but basically Alfred is reincarnated into an orphaned child who is adopted by Ivan and Ludwig.
Guh this AU sounds a lot more complicated than the others (and a little ridiculous) @__@
