For those who do world building, resource placement, mob drops, any/all that sort of thing, check me please? Or for those who just like a frothing rant,
follow this way, please.
No surprise to anyone by now that sleepless nights distracting myself from various sources of pain are spent hacking and slashing my way through WoW with one character or another. This is the first time I've leveled a leatherworker through the 70-80 level continent, so finding where various things drop is... interesting.
Most recently, it's Icy Dragonscales. Okay, no problem, there's a bunch of places they could put them. There's wyverns all over snowy areas. There's dragons all over Dragonblight, reasonably, and the whole zone is a snowbank. There's even mountains in Grizzly Hills or Zul Drak that are high enough for *something* to drop them. We go higher levels of the expansion and Storm Peaks is nothing BUT snow, similar to Dragonblight. They've gotta be one of those places, right?
Nope.
Now, I'm all in favor of a willing and reasonable suspension of disbelief. Key word there is *reasonable*.
They put the Icy Dragonscales in Sholazar Basin. A Basin. You know, jungle? Overgrown plants wandering around trying to kill you, cobras and crocs all over the place, not a hint of snow except for the avalance which is crawling with undead everything-but-dragons? I get that this zone is the level they want these scales to drop. I could even stretch a bit if they'd put them up on Stormwright's Shelf, where at least they're by the Frozen Sea. That sort of makes sense, right?
They put them on Primordial Drakes. Primordial. Like, origin of the species proto drakes WHOSE ONLY NON MELEE ATTACK IS FLAME SPIT! *boggle* WHAT?!
Suspension of disbelief just went right out the window. There is NO way you're going to get drops of chilled meat, frosted claw, icicle fang, or icy dragonscale off a jungle creature spitting flame to incubate its eggs. That's like trying to pull icicles off the tailpipe of a Ferrari that's just run from New York to Boston. I don't care HOW good the antifreeze is, that's just not on! It doesn't happen!
I'm trying to come up with something other than lazy programming to make this make sense, and I'm coming up empty. Anyone else got a clue?
