How do you like the direction that the fandom has gone in so far? What would you change if you could?

I like the fandom but I wish it was more active, especially in the fic department. I became a Peter/Olivia shipper because those fans were the most active, fic-wise, during Seasons 2 and 3. Before I only sort of liked it and had little emotional investment in the pairing.

There are a number of couples I like but to be honest it's not really about shipper fic for me. I'm more interested in stories exploring other areas of the Fringe verse (All four of them now.) that get touched upon but aren't fully fleshed out. Like where's baby Henry Dunham's soul now? What's the story concerning Red Verse Elizabeth? What's (Any) Astrid's past and why does she want to assist Fringe Division?

There are lots of ideas here to tap into and I try to help but you know how it is. Fandom is about group participation. I love this show and wish there was more love seen by the fandom.

Pretty much I just want more love for the show.

Astrid now and forever. She puts up with so much insane crap and is probably underpaid and yet she is not an alcoholic, which is so how I would cope with her situation.

All versions of Lincoln are pretty sweet too though. I especially enjoy Amberverse Lincoln awkwardly trying to figure out the etiquette of dating in alternate universes.

THIS!! Astrid rocks my sox, but I hate how we barely know her. It's been 4 years and Lincoln has been giving more depth and his character has been more fleshed out than Astrid. I like him and all, but give my girl a back-story and more screen time.

I was never that into Peter and Olivia as a couple and now whenever they have scenes together all I can hear is Peter saying "You're the one stopping this relationship" or whatever douchey thing he said in 6B. Total asshole, Olivia is better off not remembering their relationship, THERE I SAID IT.

If you are shipping a pairing it takes a lot more than one comment you don't like to stop shipping them.

You're right, it does. For me, that comment was the last straw. All season I had seen people in fandom say--un-anon-- that altOlivia was so much better than our Olivia because she was more willing to be in a relationship and more open and sexual. So Peter's comment seemed like an affirmation of that, that Olivia could not and should not be allowed to approach a relationship at her own pace. I don't understand why people ship something if they don't like or respect one half of the pairing, which is what some (though not all) P/O shippers came off as. With everything Olivia had been through (kidnapping, brainwashing, not to mention how her last relationship with a co-worker ended), she should be able to say "I'm not ready for a relationship now."

If Peter had just said "I want to work through this with you," or something similar, I wouldn't have had a problem. But it was so accusatory, and it really rubbed me the wrong way. So ( ... )

I'm kind of new to Fringe fandom, I only caught up with the show a month ago, and so far I follow a few tumblrs that regularly post Fringe stuff but that's about it.

So do you guys have any fringe tumblr recs? Any fics recs? (I'm not really a fan of Peter/Olivia but anything would be good, especially Lincoln/Olivia, Olivia/alt!Olivia, Astrid/anyone) What're the best Fringe comms? (I only know ontd_fringe so far). Thanks!

Most of livejournal fandom is P/O but there are definitely a good number of non-P/O fics! :) I don't hang out on tumblr as much as before but it seems like *that* is where the multi-shippers are and the most vocal Charlie/Olivia and other non P/O ships are. You need to check out fringe-kinkmeme on dreamwidth-- they have the most variety of ships and really great writing.
