Melbourne cup is a horse racing holiday here in Victoria. Just think 'My Fair Lady' when Eliza went to the races and got all dolled up and shouted the infamous "Come on Dover! MOVE YOUR BLOOMIN' ARSE!!" line.

Never been to watch the Melbourne Cup but the Malaysia Hall in Sydney is right in front of the Randwick Racecourse so we get to see them big hats too.

And at the uni, for the big race days they have this tradition of cross dressing while watching it. Boys in gowns and big hats and girls in suits. Funny as hell, especially when u see the rugby boys with their bull necks dressed as Eliza... :)
