*hugs* I get what you mean, I don't like it either and won't friend back, I had the same thing going on for a while at my journal-I'm not completely friends only, but I'm RL and ranting only, everything fic wise is unlocked. But saying that I have seen the same problem come up on one of the rants sites i watch and it seems over there -by pop consensus--that friending or favouriting may not mean that want to be friended back, but more that they just want to read your fic updates.
Seems sad that they can't say hello, it's always nice to make friends but yeah, might be that they aren't interested in being actual friends and being friended back, but just reading your journal and lurking. *hugs*
And cause i just noticed, I have to admit to being dubious about the new article you referred to as well but i wondered what part you were against? The use of genetics or the ethics in breeding something for just food and cross breeding for more?
Yeah, I get that, but it's still annoying. Especially when my journal is now entirely f-locked and i no longer post recs here (unless i want to babble about their awesome-ness).
My problem is the ethics of cloning something for the exact purpose of food. The treatment of animals in the food industry is already bad as it is without the addition of this. I just get this ominous feeling that the treatment of the animals will get even worse.
duh me! didn't come out how i meantwildannuetteJanuary 18 2008, 20:20:02 UTC
Well yeah that is weird, I thought you were fic unlocked. Very odd for them to friend if they can't see anything- weird.
I agree with you on the cloning for food being a worry. I think it serves a purpose for supporting soon-to-be extinct life, or perhaps for cloning animals for food in countries where there is such a small amount. Sadly though the last wouldn't come about due to economy, and I don't see the point for countri already filled with animals to go about cloning more. It would be unfair to the animals, lead to bad treatment and take away diversity. Plus obesity is already a large problem in a lot of parts of the world, forgiving the pun: why feed it? It'd only be useful in places that actually desperately need food and will actually look after what they have.
Wow that became a rant, sorry, but yeah agree with you on cloning for food, although i do believe in it for other things.

Yeah, I agree with cloning for the fact that it could lead to the cure of many disease/problems, but sometimes I wonder if they're not playing around with cloning just for cloning's sake, if that makes sense.
Normally when I friend someone I send a message, unless it says to leave a comment somewhere, on why I wish to friend them. I've actually gotten back a few really bad messages back that basically said they did not wish for me to be on their friends list. Others had no problem. I haven't had a computer for a while so when I read your Rant about Friends only I went to check my friends list. I figure either you send me a message and I haven't gotten to it yet (for which I'm going to try and find and if that's the case I will take you off my friends list I promise) or I forgot to send a message in which case I'm really really sorry.
I haven't received a message from you, nor have I sent you one.
Usually I just ignore people who friend me without commenting on my friend's only entry. This rant came out of five people doing this in a row without, like, two weeks. So, yeah: grr-ness.
If you want to stay on my f-list let me know and I'll add you back.
