Isn't there anything we can do about Ms Blackwell? I'm not sure if this falls under the DMLE, exactly, but there must be the equivalent of a Muggle restraining order? Since there are Repelling Charms and all that, I imagine it would be even more effective than a bit of paper. Lee, have you spoken to the Magical Law Enforcement Squad? I don't ( Read more... )

I think the DMLE is sadly a bit preoccupied with the mutant sock that's still roaming about the Ministry, but if he came in to make a complaint, I'm sure they'd so something about it.

I'll help. They might not know what to make of it, but I'm sure either would find use for the booties.

I'd heard about that! I also heard the sock originally came from Euterpe's Corner, which... wouldn't surprise me, actually.

Thank you. It'll get done a lot quicker if there's two of us. I only hope that wretched woman hasn't used Sticking Charms.

It did. I found it in the laundry, although I was hoping word wouldn't go around that it came from us! The last thing we need is the building condemned because someone (and I'm still blaming Eddie) couldn't be bothered to keep track of their socks.

That would just make it more difficult. I'm sure I could rope my flatmate, Morag into helping as well if so.

Oh, don't worry -- I heard it here rather than at the Ministry. Your secret's safe for now! Besides, the Ministry wouldn't really condemn a building just because one mutant sock was found here would they?.

Hopefully it won't come to that, but she's welcome to help if she wants to.

I should think that Smethley, being the landlady and all, would show some sort of interest.

She's never shown much interest in either the building or her tenants, though, has she?

One would say that might be a bit neglectful of her and a sign that perhaps she shouldn't be in charge.

I wish she'd be more helpful, but I don't want to get rid of her. I couldn't afford it if we got a new landlord and they increased the rent. You're not on the lower levels, are you? Doesn't she listen to you more?

No. I've been busy trying to pretend this isn't happening. It didn't occur to me.

That's not very sensible. Well, now you can.

Probably.

It might not have been her who's responsible. It could be someone, a resident even, who just wanted to mock the situation. Not that it's funny.

I hadn't thought of that! Do you think it's likely?

I wouldn't put it past Eddie some people, so it's entirely possible.

That's a very good idea. I'll help you take some of them down. I'm sure they'll be grateful, if a bit perplexed.
