Important Question; Also, A Thought Regarding Vampires and the Traditional Weaknesses Thereof

Dec 02, 2008 20:12

Do any of you think I'd make a good professor? Obviously I'd have to go back to school. Either anthropology or writing, I'm thinking.

Thought: Vampires are afraid of crosses because the natural enemy of the vampire is the Hound of Tindalos.

You're smart, capable of successfully arguing a point and friendly/personable. I think you'd be quite marvellous at it.

You and I discussed this at some length when you first were thinking of pursuing advanced studies. I stand by what I said then: I think that you would be a very good professor. I won't repeat what the previous poster said. Suffice it to say that I concur. I certainly think you would thrive at the research-write-rinse-repeat part of being an academic. The perfect place for you would be, I think, a liberal arts college where the professors actually get to know their students because they don't have classes of 300. However, as I recall, the one thing you may not want to do is the teaching part. Perhaps I am not remembering this correctly. My apologies if so. I will say that teaching isn't in and of itself why I am seeking to be an academic.

Anthropology is a wonderfully interesting field. Second only to History for me.

Let me know if you want to chat more.

YES! You would be a terrific professor. I also think you'd do well if you're not dealing with just lecturing 300 blank faces, and I'd suggest anthropology for several reasons ( ... )

You could combine anthropology and story-telling (of sorts) by focusing on ethnography. Some of the most exciting material being published in my field is in anthropology, or includes some anthropological/ethnographic approaches.
