I know, right? Different lighting's would present a completely different image.

With regards to an earlier response of yours, we totally need to catch up!

Fasinating. Many public places here in Wooster display old photographs of the town, and I have the same reaction as you. Most especially to the customs of clothing, then and now. It seems to me to have been (100 - 150 years ago) a much more interesting place.

Is that Wooster, OH?

I know exactly what you mean about the custom of clothing, the Shorpy's site I linked to is fascinating to look through for just that reason alone. There were a set of pictures of the Jersey Shore that had all the beach visitors in full on suits and dresses that covered every bit of them! Now? Umm...seen the MTv show "Jersey Shore"? Nuff said.

That is incredible! It's almost like someone just cut the train and house and rails and anything dealing with humans out of the first picture to create the second. You can see the cave openings are the same shapes, so you know it's the same place, but other than that you'd never know!

I know! It's so lovey, the distance-- both pictures tell a story, but very different ones.

Love the website. The tunnels look like some sort of hobbit hole today.

The skeleton would have been scarier without pirate clothing, but I can imagine how delighted teens would be to find it.

I'm so glad you're enjoying the website!

LOL...good point about the skeleton being much scarier if it didn't have pirate clothing. It would have made for another episode of "Lost" (*groan*...not sure if you're a fan, but the latest episodes have been rather bad along these lines). ;-)

The place is so deserted today when once, it was bustling with the beauty and magnificence of the classic American railway.

As much as i love rail and feel we've made a huge mistake by dismantling so much of it, i have to say, the bottom picture looks so much nicer to me, as a place in general. Now i so want to go there.

Thanks for sharing this!
