I’m back! I'm back! ImbackImbackImback!!!! : D *squeeeeee* Oh-My-God! And I can’t tell you how much I have missed this fandom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hugshugshugshugshugs to flist!
First off I want to give my sincere THANKS to the following dear, sweet people. To
grapeofdeath,
easterlily41482,
melanieathene,
nolyana,
aina_baggins,
lyrastar77, and
frodosweetstuff. Thank you all so very much for your good wishes back in August when I left to finish up school. I apologise for not replying to any comments but I truly ‘walked away’ from the fandom. I had to. I did pop on in late December just to see what was up, but I didn’t stay on long enough to mingle with anyone. It was eerily quiet actually. Also, I became quite ill near the end of October with what I later found out was a severe case of Bronchitis. It lasted 10 weeks! I haven’t been that sick in I don’t know how long. BUT… I am very happy to say that all of that is behind me; I am well again and I have finished school and earned my Degree! YAY!!! I am so excited. Of course, now I have to be on the lookout and see if I can land a ‘high paying’ job - you know, 'cause I have a Degree now. ; )
My degree, by the way, is in Computer Programming if anyone wants to know. It’s only a two-year degree but I can tell you it took me more than two years to get it and I worked my a## off for it. I still can’t believe I’ve done it. Go me! *cheesy grin*
I’ve learned several programming languages but my language of choice, for my final project, was Java. Surprisingly, I was asked to learn (on my own) the latest platform in the Java programming language, J2ME, and then program an arcade-type game for a small handheld device; in particular, a mobile phone. I had an absolute blast doing it and my game, being the first game I ever programmed, really turned out better than I could have imagined. It was called Alien Invasion and the jest of it was that these blobby, but cute, aliens would randomly drop out of the sky. There was a launcher at the bottom of the screen that the player would use to fire lasers at the aliens, and every time you hit an alien another one, of a different color (just so the user knew it wasn’t the same alien), would float down; each one faster than the other. Player received 10 points for every alien hit. If an alien reached the ground… game over! Eventually the aliens would start coming too fast so I had to put code in there to slow them down again to at least give the player a fighting chance. *hee* Anyway, I was very pleased with it, as was my instructor. He just kept going great job! Great job!
Ooh, hey, another really great thing that came out of all of this was that, because my game required me to use transparent sprite images, I ended up having to purchase some photo editing software to achieve that. Anyway, I’ve just begun learning what all I can do with it and… well, as I’m sure you all can imagine, I’m going to have quite-the-fun with it. That is, with the photo manipulating aspect of it. I’m working on my first manip at present and will share it with all of you just as soon as it’s done. It will be Frodo and Sam kissing. I mean, they are really kissing! Open-mouthed and everything! : )
Okay, aside from playing with my photo software, I think I am just going to lay low for a little while so that I can... catch up on everything, especially some reading!!!! *squeeeeeeeeee* So excitedsoexcitedsoexcited!
