Miserable Summer Cold - 1 Surgery - 0

So, I have the WORST cold! Saw the neurosurgeon today (final pre-op appointment) and, naturally, we need to postpone about two weeks. I really don't want to wait any longer, but, there are some pluses. First, I am allowed to take my arthritis meds for a couple of days - YAY for less pain. Second, I'm getting a new MRI - this has been going around ( Read more... )

oh, honey, I'm sorry! First it sucks to be so sick, but then to have it delay a needed surgery is a real eep. *hugs*

Aw! I'm so sorry! Summer colds are so much worse than winter ones because the heat makes it that much more miserable. I hope you'll be feeling better soon and can get on with getting through your surgery. *hugs*

Thankfully, we've got decent AC and I have a fan I turn on and off, depending upon how the fever's got me feeling LOL - we've moved on to the "miserable barking cough" stage, but that means it's on its way out, so that's very good. I should get a call tomorrow or Thursday with the rescheduled date. And I get a new MRI, which is a very good thing. **hugs back**

What bad timing for the cold! I hope it clears out quickly.

What arthritis meds work for you? I'm glad you can get some relief

It's moving through all the stages, one a day, so it should be gone by week's end. And I work from home, so I don't have to go into "the office".

I am currently using nabumetone (an NSAID usually known as Relafen) 750 mgs twice a day, and hydroxychloroquine (an anti-malarial, of all things, usually known as Plaquenil) 200 mgs twice a day. They're both considered "old drugs" but they really make a difference for me. I was totally miserable being off them, needing to rely more on my evil Ultram or Vicodin. Hopefully, your doctor will think they're okay for you and they can help you. You have to take them for a while before they work, but, when they do, it's so helpful. **HUGS**
