I agree with what you are saying about work and living life, but you are also looking at this superficially I think.

As for helping children around the world, have you thought about the Peace Corps? http://www.peacecorps.gov/ Check it out, it's something to consider.

As for boredom, I remember what Mommy use to tell us when we were little, you aren't bored unless you let yourself be bored. Remember that.

but the cool thing is, if you get a job you love, then it's not really even a job. you're getting paid to do what you love!
