De-tendriling the smial

Sep 13, 2003 10:08

Attention Back End, I'm retracting those tendrils of mine. You really won't feel anything, because I'm not pouring energy into you or taking it thankfully!. So... I suppose you just have to take my word for it that I'm not 'spying' on your heart rates and the like anymore ( Read more... )

*twitches at mention of "spying"* Don't joke about that, okay? *twitches again; worries about waking up to another video camera*

I don't think we're afraid of you. Confused by you sometimes, yes, but not afraid. But your mother and her calm, calculating hairbrushing .... that's different.

I'm sorry, Isengar.

Are you sure about that? Yes, it is rather chilling, isn't it. The precision... the method...

*nervous laugh*

I'm pretty sure you confuse me, especially after all that with your father and .... but you're a good lad, and I'm sure I'm fairly confusing at times seeing as how I'm confused most of the time, so it works out. She's so intense about the hairbrushing. It's ... unnerving.

If its any comfort, I couldn't see or hear anything, and I don't really retain but momentary memory of the feedback from the tendrils. So... I can't tell you what your heart rate was a few moments ago. Its more efficiant to be in the moment with that sort of thing, or else information gets mixed. It wouldn't be a very good method of spying, really.

~smiles somewhat~ I'm sorry for adding to your confusion, dear friend. Meticulous, even. Or... did we already use that?

*nods* No, I believe you. Bingo wouldn't be with you still if you were that big a control freak that you felt the need to moniter all of us on the sly. I remember one time when we were having dinner in Great Smials and I was teasing Bingo by staring at every bite he got mad and picked up a yam and threw it at me.

*shrugs* Well, Folly and I travelled pretty far east and south on our tour and saw a lot of Arda. Middle-earth is full of weirdos wonders and differences. So you're not the only person I've met who could do totally different things from me. And the Shire's gotten pretty diverse of late, so I guess everyone's getting used to differnent ways.

*folds her arms and looks thoughtful* Well, Bingo's told me you can make whole worlds and civilizations in places thataren't part of our world. How powerful are you in our world though? What's the biggest thing you can do?

....~not sure if this was in humour or serious, blinks~

~slight smile~

In my Realm, yes. The extent of what I can do here... I can manipulate my own appearance, age, and the like, as well as my mother's, but cannot do the same to you and your fellows. Though I could copy your physical shapes and train them to behave (in a way) as you would. Not that I have any desire to do that. I can make objects, as I did your weapons. Basically, what I can do here depends on what I can manufacture with my own energy, not relying on the enviroment in the least. I can't touch your enviroment. Compared to my Realm... what I can do here is very limited.

*thinks, narrows her eyes* Sooooo . . . could you make a building? Move a boulder? Make a stone appear in someone's throat and block their air flow? Could you make the water in their blood flow backwards?

~blinks~ I... could make a building, but it would take a lot of energy on my part, and I don't think even Bingo could cook enough for me to be able to replentish myself in a timely fashion. I'm not physically strong enough in my preferred state to move a boulder-- that would take an alteration to my physique I wouldn't want to make. .........I... could make a stone, yes, but..... Melba, why would I want to? Do I look murderous to you?

*rubs wrist* tigergoodbody September 14 2003, 06:09:14 UTC
Iorhael, the wrist tendrils didn't hurt at all. You put them there only as a precaution. They're not needed anymore so you've removed them.

I'm glad that you have that power, though I don't completely understand it. It's sort of comforting to know we have a way to protect ourselves if true Evilness ever comes to our happy Smial again.

Strange? Well... 'unusual' is a better word. I don't have any unusual powers except the ability to hit a golf ball and win a million dollars. Your powers intrigue rather than frighten me.

((congrats Tiger, you're the lucky recipiant of Iorhael's ramble. Teach you to be intrigued.;) )) frodofigment September 14 2003, 15:24:22 UTC
I'm glad they didn't hurt, Tiger! ~laughs~ Because if they did, then you're seriously sensitive to my energy, and I'd begin to think you were from my Realm without my knowing it.

~nods~ I hope that true Evilness never stops by our happy little Smial again, and that I don't have to make a big show of myslef again. ~shakes his head but smiles~

I think one of the misunderstandings is that... they're not really powers or anything. ~adresses this to other listening as well~ Nearly all the creatures and peoples in my Realm can do what I can, to a certain extent. Within our home land, it is a necessity to shape and form the enviroment, ourselves and even the time in order for us to live and continue living. The Realm is instability at the best, everyone trying to contribute their own versions of this or that place, this or that event... until we have alternates, time overlapping itself and other such things. We also live on the basis of energy consumption and production, much as your lives are sustained. A muse that does nothing, does not ( ... )

Thank you for explaining yourself in such detail. I'll need to play back your speech in my mind several times in order to comprehend what all you've said.

You seem to be a very valuable asset to your Realm. You don't seem at all 'common' to me. But perhaps that is because I'm not of your Realm and what you say facinates me.

~laughs a little~ I'm sorry if I managed to confuse you more, I'm very good at that.

I'm valuable only when I'm needed. And as to me not seeming common... a king is no more great and talented than those who are not kings. Indeed many common people are more special and gifted than those who are kings. In my Realm you could call me a king... but I'd much rather be common. More fun, it is. ~little smile~
I'm glad you find it more interesting than frightening.
