Amusing Ash Wednesday related comment

So my sister and I were standing at the bus stop in Manuka after attending morning mass at the cathedral, and we had ashen crosses on our foreheads from the service. Cue the following comment from random dude at the bus stop ( Read more... )

I remember at my school when we did this. IT was fine, at school. But once the bell went and we go to other destinations like the busstop all the other students from other schools were like wtf is up with that.

I have to keep reminding myself not to tell everyone at my school, "Hey, you have something on your face." After six years (!) it's getting easier...

I've never seen anyone with ash on their faces - I didn't know it was something that happened. Thanks for enlightening me, I've learnt something today.

See I would proudly wear a banana sticker on my head and celebrate my weirdness, so why do I feel ashamed to admit my religion publicly?

That is something for me to ponder this Lenten season.
