Job Search

HOLY CRAP I NEED A JOB.

*sigh* Sorry. I needed to get that out.

During school, I tried various people for baby-sitting positions that were going to be regular, the people would interview me, and then I’d come to find out they really didn’t need me after all, they just wanted someone to fall back on.

Back during the school year, ( Read more... )

"I swear, if I ever have kids, I’m going to make them get a job in high school. They don’t have a choice. I enjoyed not having one, and I don’t think I’ve suffered developmentally from it at all, but it’s sure making it hard to get a job right now… I’m beginning to wonder if the idea of a 20 year old who’s only job experience is a summer at camp is really that attractive. I think that most people would like me and hire me if they met me in person, but I don’t look good on paper."
Ditto, amen, preach it, I totally feel what you are saying! The only reason I have the job I have right now is the grace of God and some connections through my church. If it weren't for that, I would be screwed. I'll keep your job hunt in my prayers. ^_^

Thanks hun! Quite frustrating when people who are "hiring" don't talk! I figure I'll go down to the cafe today, see if they want to talk to me now or this weekend, 'cause if they don't, I'm going home for the weekend!

I think a lot of times they just take way longer to call you than you think they should. On one or two of my summer job hunts, I've put in a bunch of applications, moped because nobody would call me, finally landed a job, and then had two or three other places call after that. Try to be patient and I bet you'll get something.

Also, Meijer? Maybe not ideal, but I think you get a neat-o discount... :)

I had a friend that worked there (back in the hometown, but I suspect that it's the same deal), and she said it was about a 15% discount.

Problem? You can't use it on groceries! That's all I buy these days...

You can't use it on groceries? That's really annoying.

I don't think it matters if you work in high school...
Cause I'm job-fucked too and I had jobs.

It shall come to you dear. Just keep at it. Oh, and keep at letting all your connections know you are jobless. That's how I landed most of mine last summer. And though I hear Meijer is hideous to work for, at least it'll pay the bills. That's what I keep telling myself about this one... keep your chin up :)
