The thing that gets to me is how anti-establishment (especially anti-police and anti-military) people feel like it's OK to be a cock about this kind of stuff.
What's worse is that if we didn't have this regressive sales tax system in the state and charged an appropriate income tax, maybe we wouldn't have to get butthurt all the time about how we spend our funds and BONUS, maybe less people would be poor because they don't have to pay 10% sales tax on shoes and used cars.
But yeah, the problem is definitely a cop's funeral, someone who got shot in Leschi/Central District, because yeah, it's so disrespectful to the poor.
I purposely didnt read that thread because I just don't want to get pissed. I also have a hard time with people who can't accept that when you run from a police officer and you flash at a gun at them, they will shoot you. But then again, I'm a middle class white girl, what do I know.

A) What a fucking bitch B) Her font choice in her journal is stupid c) Her DAD died not too long ago. You'd think she'd have a tiny bit of empathy. D) And most important: When the four Alberta RCMP officers were gunned down in 2005, the entire country shut down. The memorial was televised and Ian Tyson sang, 'Four Strong Winds' which left me a weeping mess. Every flag in the country, no lie, was at half mast. It was a fucking national day of mourning.
Officers came from across Canada, the States, fucking AUSTRALIA and Europe. All at their own expense. They were changing into uniform in a parking lot in order to take part in the procession.
I was a reporter then, in a small town and worked very closely with the local RC's. I was gutted, thinking something like that could happen to my friends. People turned up at the local depots with flowers and cards, and make-shift memorials popped up everywhere. (I made the local RC admin staff cry with my card. "We love our RC's. Stay safe always

I have no words *hugs*
Cop killers are the worst and we should all be grateful for the service of our men and women in uniform, they are the people that protect and care for us.

And not too long after the shooting, Jim and I attended the local RCMP Regimental Ball. Our friend Tracey was a County Officer at the time and he was there, all handsome in his uniform, and I started to bawl.
Then we all got drunk and jackets came off and evidently, the RCs have this little tradition wherein one attempts to wear the filthiest t-shirt under one's uniform. Not filthy 'dirty'. But FILTHY DIRTY. The Staff Sgt of out local depot was wearing a shirt with the Energizer bunny fucking on it. He wins :)
