Red light camera tickets

Jul 25, 2011 14:07

I took a right on a red even though I made a complete stop and got a stupid ticket in the mail for $124.

What is the best way to contest it? Any personal stories, etc.?

This happened in Redmond

Good point as I don't think there are any signs like that in that area. There's also supposedly video so I'll watch that tonight. My posts were a knee jerk reaction to the ticket that came in the mail.

I hate how they turn it into a money generator too, being all lazy with the cameras. I will watch the video tonight, supposedsly there is one

To add to everyone, did you make the stop behind the white line? They will ticket you if you go over it and you can't really argue that either.
I got one and they pulled video up in court. I did not get off but they lessened my fine for showing up.

:(

I made a rolling stop before taking a right on a red (I did not come to a full and complete stop that lasted whatever requisite amount of time stops the camera from tripping) and got a ticket for almost $300. They knocked a whopping $75 off when I pleaded for some leniency seeing as it was my first offense/ticket and I have never even been pulled over in 15 years of driving. It was a month after the twins were born too, and it was my first time taking them anywhere, AND the cameras had just been installed. Major stress! I hate those things. I get that, in my case, I was at fault, but I still can't believe the fine for a rolling right turn on red is the same as for someone going 40 straight through. The cities make big money off of them.

I hope you have luck contesting it.
