Rock on! (Just curious -- is there anything you can do to keep this from happening, short of ripping all the plumbing out and starting over?)

Sigh. I wish! It would actually mean ripping up the bathroom floor -- this little addition isn't over the basement -- it juts out from the root cellar over nothingness, and as far as I can tell what is between the floor and the ground is a layer of cinderblocks. It's in there that the pipe freezes -- about a foot and a half down from the floor, judging by the length of the snake when I pull up the ice. We've been keeping the bathroom door open this year in hopes of preventing it, and I have now taken the door off the cabinet too, in case that does anything. But mostly I think I have to be more vigilant about remembering to pour a kettle of boiling water down the drain every couple of days.

I can't wait until I have enough money to re-insulate this house...
