Dear Save Dora petition signers,
Dora will still be remade into a tween, but that doesn't mean we didn't have an impact. We did. As soon as Mattel/Nick received the first 3-4000 signatures, they revealed the Dora behind the silhouette. When they received 10,000, they started assuring parents that Dora would stay her feisty, environmentally aware self. We have no idea what went on behind the scenes -- whether tights and micro mini skirt became leggings and a top or if a passion for shopping turned into a desire to save the rain forest -- but by the time they received over 13,000 of our signatures, attention had shifted from a new fashion icon back to talk of the feisty Dora we all know and love. Are we happy they couldn't let Dora be Dora? No. But we're proud of the impact we had.
Now we're jazzed up by the wonderful
open letter Linda Holmes wrote to Pixar (now owned by Disney), asking them for a lead female character in one of their movies. We liked her positive take so much that we turned her request into our next petition. Read her amazing letter and then go to
www.ipetitions.com/petition/realgirls to ask Pixar to turn their wildly creative imagination to the development of a girl character all children (and adults) can love!
Thank you for your help making a difference!

Well, at least she's keeping her fundamental characteristics... that's a start, right? It really bothers me that some wasn't happy with Dora as she is, so they have to change her, have her grow up - what happened to leaving well enough alone? Did the Peanuts characters ever grow up? The Simpsons?!? Argh!!
