This research is a bunch of hooey. "Homosexuality" has been around for a very long time and has been practiced in cultures in which it was the norm. It is very much a learned behavior, like most behaviors and that is fine. If it had a physical, or mostly physical basis, we would not have had cultures like the Spartans, in which homosexual relationships were the norm for both men and women. The term "homosexual" wasn't even coined until the lat 1860's and it wasn't until the rise of industrialism/captalism that it was even given a second thought, except by the Jews, apparently. That's not anti-semitic but I don't recall another ancient source with an admonition against same sex sexual acts. Basically, this research is held up because it gives homosexuals and excuse. You don't need an excuse and you don't need to show that you're different physically. Here's my theory. The patterns that are shown are a result of social conditioning. Gay men and women are taight the same crap about homosexuality that everyone else, including that ( ... )

Alex is right. What you have to understand is that there's a super-computer; much like Cerebro from X-Men, which detects when a person has homosexual thoughts. Then, once they've been detected, a team of Gay Crusaders sweeps in (or is it swooshes in?) and takes them for their orientation. This is where we get our 'manuals' (or woman-uals) and we are taught the gay-agenda, and some are even indoctrinated into the gay-mafia. This is where we get our gay-dar implants, are forced to watch every episode of Queer as Folk, The L Word, Will & Grace, and My Two Dads (Lesbians must also watch the Beverly Hillbillies [Ms. Jane Hathaway]). It's also at the training center that we learn the history of gays and lesbians, the truth about Leonardo DaVinci, Alexander the Great, and other historical 'mo's, how to combat the Christian Right, and most importantly, how to 'recruit' new members into the ranks. Periodically through our lives, the Crusaders will reappear and give us gifts, most often this occurs when one recruits 5 new members, or gets ( ... )

You are correct in your assessment of the reach of this "study". I am far more concernec with the ramifications of such a line of inquiry. The basics of any physiological basis for behaviors are familiar to me. I addressed that. All behaviors have a physiological component. However, physioligy is predisposition, not predestination. One can look at any behavior we view as inherent, beyond purely survival behaviors to see what I mean. Think about someone who has an artistic talent. What makes someone talented in such and area? I don't know the specifics, but I would say that person has some sort of predisposition to learning things that lead to being an artist. Is this automatic? No. Artists still need to learn the artistic behavior. A child can be born with such predisposition, but if it's never honed it will not become something recognizable as an artistic talent. But, the reverse may also be true in that someone without this predisposition can become an artist. So, with homosexuality, any physical component would simply mean ( ... )

Great! Now we can take Jake, Kara, Thereasa, Ben and Pooka to a clinic so they can be "cured" of their malady. Hell, even YOU can be cleansed of your OWE debacle.

The world of possibilities has opened up. I say we round up all the homos, lesbos, bi's, and hell, even metrosexuals (let's face it, they're on the fence anyway), put them into behavioral re-modification camps, and finally purge the world of hair dressers and truck drivers. Hey! We can even stop God from killing all the American troops in Iraq!

The world is saved! I love science.

I left out the word "behavior" in my response.

No catagorical facts but I have the opinion that sexuality is learned AND biological. What make someone straight or gay could be different for different people. Maybe one person had 80 percent biological and 20 percent learned. Another person could be the opposite. Does it need to be one or the other? I think one thing Alex mentioned stuck with me. What are the ramifications? If it's totally nuture than we can retrain someone. If it's totally biological do we search and find a medicinal cure or worse yet develop an in-utero test to find out before and child is born and get rid of them. I think the problem is the attitude towards not the cause.
