At least 58 laws currently discriminate against same-sex couples and their children. Please go to this link and TAKE ACTION by sending a letter to the Attorney General. It only takes 30 seconds.
I guess Australian law is a bit different. The Attorney General in Australia is a member of parliament (the position is akin to him being a minister) and he has a great deal of influence when it comes to drafting changes to law. I guess we could write to the Prime Minister also, but I suspect the Attorney General's office will be the ones advising the government on legislation change anyway...
one of my friends is going to be speaking to the Attorney General (as part of a small group of lobbyists, not all by himself) about this stuff next week. so yeah, the Attorney General (in Australia) is the/a person to talk to about this kind of thing. although i don't know as much about our legal and parliamentary systems as i would like.

The Attorney General is supposed to enforce the law, not ignore it.
If you want those laws changed, you need to petition parliament.
