I think I shall start eating organic/free range/kosher dairy and possibly meat.

I have done A LOT of research.

And, as a family, after learning quite a bit about it, we've decided to strive for completely kosher meats and dairy.

I'm actually very proud of this decision.

why do you want kosher meat? i mean it's cool if your Jewish but it's generally treated no different then regular meat (pluse it costs a bunch more because it was killed a speical way.) if your goal is to eat less heavly treated meats, then free range and organic is the way to go... not nessicarly kosher.

actually, kosher is treated very differently.

it is widely recognized as the most human method of slaughtering--

"The method of slaughter is a quick, deep stroke across the throat with a perfectly sharp blade with no nicks or unevenness. This method is painless, causes unconsciousness within two seconds."

as taken from http://www.kohnskosher.com/ . which is a really wonderful resource--but dont worry, i have confirmed this information with many other websites and resources. so i'm not just following this one blindly. i have read that at one point they used chains to hang the animals upside down during this process, but that they no longer do.

it's as humane as it gets.

free range and organic animals are still slaughtered the using the same process as commercially bred and grown animals.

so i have decided to look for kosher free range organically fed products, so that i can be assured that all of their life and death is as natural and humane as possible.

by the way, i'm really sorry if this came across as a lecture--i totally didnt mean it that way and i've been thinking about it ever since a little while after i wrote it and feeling bad cause i really dont want it to be taken the wrong way--i'm totally not up on some high horse right now, i think i just got a little defensive because i'm insecure about the idea of giving up veganism even in the slightest and freaking out like i would come across as giving up or something...

anyway i'm rambling, but i just wanted to appologize for being all veganer-than-thou or something.

i love you heather!

Hey, I was talking to someone the other day and she said blood type has a lot to do with what your body needs you to eat. That was news to me, I don't even know what blood type I am! So I plan on looking into that and just thought I'd pass that on. You might already know about it, but I didn't.
And I'm glad you are proud of your decision. : )
