The scorpion needs to get across the river; so he asks the swan for a ride. The swan figures its not much of a risk; th scorpion wouldnt sting the creature carrying it across the ragging waters. So half way across the scorpion stings the swan; and as they're both being swept to their deaths the swan asks the scorpion "I was helping you, why did you sting me?" and the scorpion replied "Its what I do."
