Truth was Tina had arrived early, only to get hit by nerves and disappear around the corner so that she could hyperventilate into her purse. Blaine and Kurt had both been in favour of her following through with the blind date, but the fact that Blaine had talked up the date to sound like some totally hot and cool just had her freaking out. She knew it was stupid. She was long past the semi-shy girl she'd started off as at high school, but it had been ages since she'd been on a proper date, and the Ivy was like the ultimate in LA terms.
She pressed her lips together as she checked her sterling silver Pierre Cardin watch for the time, determined not to be late. It would have been stupid considering she really was just around the corner. She would give herself ten more seconds and then she'd take her silver and black dress into that restaurant and blow the mystery man's socks off. If he was wearing socks. Did guys still wear socks on dates

As soon as she spoke, the penny dropped in Simon's brain that this must be his date, because she wasn't dressed as a waitress. No, no, really not dressed as a waitress. "Wow..." fell from this lips before he could stop it, and then stupidly tried to save face by shooting out of his seat, only to bang his knee on the underside of the table and bump everything on top of it. He managed to just stop himself in before he swore, and then feeling like a giant dick, offered her a sheepish smile once he was standing and pointedly ignored the throb in his knee.
"Hey... I'm Simon. Simon Sinclair, and I really did not mean to sound like James Bond then..." he added. Oh god, this was shocking. In his head, he cursed Blaine distinctly, but stepped in front of the maître d' so he could pull Tina's chair out for her before he could. It was automatic, and if it offended the dude, so what? "You look gorgeous by the way. The dress is beautiful. Oh, this is for you!" he said with a grin and pick up the single red rose he brought with him and handed it

Tina couldn't help but grin as she watched him, suddenly not so scared of the cool guy with the gorgeous face. "Hi Simon Sinclair. I'm Tina Cohen-Chang if we're going to add in last names. I just didn't want to hit you with the hyphen straight up. Sometimes it can be intimidating. And thank you, I won't lie. This was a last minute clothing decision, but not one I'm regretting if it gets me a wow."
Then she breathed out as she saw the rose, her cheeks tinged with colour as she broke out into another wide smile and accepted it. "You didn't have to do that, but thank you. It's beautiful. And you look amazing. I like the vest. Very dashing." After a beat her eyes flicked down from his face briefly. "Is the knee okay?"
Simon just hovered there for a moment, even after she sat, and he wet his lips before a little voice in his head, sounding suspiciously like Blaine, told him to stop being a dick and sit down too. He took his seat again with a laugh and then waved his hand. "Oh, yeah. It's fine. I'm pretty tough. I've had way worse than a bump to the knee... way worse..." Like she wouldn't believe, but that probably wasn't the best opening to a date. "I'm like Garfield, I still have a few lives left him me," he added jokingly.
"So, um, just for the record, I've never really been on a blind date before. All my dates have very much been sighted and it's been awhile since I've done anything like this, so I thought I better add that little disclaimer off the bat in case I do or say anything stupid. If I do, you might never see me again, because Blaine will kill me," he laughed, his fingers fiddling nervously with the fork resting beside his hand.
