The Density of Souls & Soundtrack to a Movie

Last night, I went to see my friend's band play at a bar in Ramsey. Their opener, a guy I met at a Barbecue last weekend, plays these slow, melancholy songs on acoustic guitar. It wouldn't have been so bad if there had been some tonal variety, but even the songs that were meant to be up-tempo sounded more like funeral dirges than wedding marches ( Read more... )

A crazy box of crabs?! This is why, despite always looking like a miserable slob, I would still sleep with Paul Giamatti. (Justin showed me a photo in one of his baseball books the other day -- a young Paul Giamatti in the stands, worrying over some game. His father was the commissioner at one point.)

That is an amazing game, and I can't wait to read the answers you give people. I'll start you off:
1. Ricki Lee Jones, "Rodeo Girl"
2. Björk, "Play Dead"
3. Dan Auerbach, "The Prowl"

I think my soul would look like a soft, shapeless piece of knitting, maybe a blanket. Shade of rabbit gray. Kit's soul, obviously, would be a goldfish.

Mmm. You're like a breath of fresh air. A baby Buddah.

First, some songs.

1. Willie Nelson, "Graceland"
2. Van Morrison, "Moonshine Whiskey"
3. Jon Brion "Punchy Tack Piano"

The soul question is easy for me, because I think I've always known it. My soul looks like a magnolia. Maybe with a few brown spots.

Michael Jackson, his soul looks like Peter Pan's shadow. Taylor's, a ring pop-- probably galactic watermelon. Michelle, hers is like sparkling hot springs. Diane? I'm not too sure. My family's, though... I'm not too sure I want to know.

I think my soul would be a glass jar with beach sand, some pebbles, a shell, a piece of driftwood, a piece of worn beach glass, and some dried grasses. Maybe a piece of worn satin ribbon tied around the neck of the jar.

I like that game! I always would make up stories about people I'd see in 30th Street Station while waiting for the train.
