Have you seen this new contraption they have at the dentist’s office? The ionic gum-rapper I think it was called. Are far as I can tell it’s a small, vibrating, curved blade, not unlike a scythe, that the hygienists drags back and forth across your gums until to confess to being a terrorist

You forgot the worst part... many people are not covered for dental care, so afraid said torture they direct you to someone who gives you a bill.

The dentist gets paid pretty well, which softens the blow of their work a bit but also causes people to resent them even more.
