me - in a slightly stale, undelicious nutshell

You know those montages in silly Hollywood movies where one character lets themselves go completely and sits around watching daytime tv and eating cereal and wearing pyjamas/tracksuits all day with messy hair and an ever-expanding waistline? That's me. For the past four and a half months, since my contract wasn't renewed at the place were I worked ( Read more... )

Aww that sucks! Don't blame yourself that you don't have a job though. That stupid recession has chewed the lot of us up and spit us out! I'm looking for work at the moment, but I'm also "looking" into a bag of cans every night too, which is crap of me.

Some of what you are describing might be an unlooked for side effect of the anti-ds. I don't have personal experience of it, but a lot of friends I know who take/took them had problems with lack of motivation and general feelings of "blah". I don't know what to advise unfortunately! Sorry for the crap alleged advice!

*hugs* Goodness lady!

I can't say as I speak from experience because the only couple of times I dealt with depression my symptoms were very different. But what I can say that, as with anything, acknowledgment that there is a problem is the first step in solving said problem. You may have had a setback, but here you are again recognizing the problem and taking a step.

One thing that has helped me each time I had problems was meditation. There are several different kinds of meditation you can do. Try some different forms and see if any works for you. Something easy to start with is Sun Salutations. I'm having trouble motivating myself back into exercise, but since I started doing 5 Sun Salutations each morning, I've noticed I'm more motivated for the day. It's exercise as opposed to meditation, but you can certainly make it meditative if you concentrate on your breathing and focus your thoughts. Yoga's origins are among those who thought about consciousness and such after all.

I am just back from a yoga class with my mom, and you wouldn't believe the difference in me. Thanks so much for your message, and yes, you're right. My original plan for today had involved a morning walk with a friend, so I am going to try to get one in some other time this week instead :)

Heya Sarah,

Its great that you were able to go to the doctor about it, sometimes that's the hardest step. And don't be afraid to talk to your friends as you have lots and they all care a lot about you.

All my doctors have urged the importance of exercise, albeit maybe someday I'll start listening to them. So keep it up with the Yoga when you are able to.

Hope you sleep well, take care of yourself, and give me a shout for lunch if you ever in town.
