CANON: Right after Jade turns off the Fourth Wall.
WHAT THEY LOST: Memories of Bec. Bec is the dog who basically raised her, has saved her life countless times and then eventually fused with her Kernal Sprite and in doing so caused everything to go to hell.
ABOUT THE CHARACTER:
Jade is introduced to us as a "silly girl" and this is probably not far from the truth. Her style and tone can definitely be described as eccentric. From the colorful strings tied around her fingers to her enjoyment of fertilizing her flowers while squealing like a pig, Jade is more than a little bit of an oddball. Even her looks are a bit silly! However out of all the characters in Homestuck Jade is the most genuine. She doesn't hide her thoughts or her feelings. She is outwardly very kind and caring towards others. Jade's first instinct is to simply be nice to everyone she meets. Her friends mean the most to her and she does everything in her power to help them along in the right direction. She even shows a degree of kindness to the trolls at first before their relentless... well, trolling... makes her too upset. Despite her kindness Jade is not a push over by any means. She's more than capable of taking care of herself and being her own "knight" as it were. She's independent, perfectly capable and doesn't like if you imply otherwise.
She's also a bit of a nerd in the sense that she's very smart. She enjoys gardening and tinkering with machines, creating her own things out of them. She likes classic board and card games. Her favorite being Memory which is also very good at. Her intellect is implied to be VERY high as she has an interest in nuclear physics and i apparently also skilled in this subject. She is also very good with computers and technology in general, use to dealing with many advanced forms of it. She has even created her own robot version of herself that awakens whenever she falls asleep. Jade also suffers from extreme narcoleptic and will often fall asleep without warning. She can never remember falling asleep when this happens. As a result of this she can often seem a bit spacey or weird as she is very in touch with the dream world that exists within her canon. Said dream world has gained her abilities of a prophet and she can often predict things before they happen. This gives her a bit of a mysterious and secretive edge to her. But with the death of her dream self this has changed.
Overall, though, Jade is just an optimistic and somewhat carefree young girl. She indulges in fun things like playing her bass and chatting with her online friends. She is enthusiastic about everything and keeps a very positive outlook on life. This is something very evident in her typing style. She uses a lot of exclamation points and emoicons to add even more enthusiasm. She is always willing to think optimistically and is very rarely angry. Her cheerful nature is refreshing but it can often come across as being childish. Having lived isolated on an island her whole life Jade is a bit childish but more so because she's somewhat naive. She trusts people very easily and often will always believe when they're telling her. It is not in her nature to distrust or doubt others. Although smart in the book smart sense she is otherwise clueless. She doesn't get pop culture references and isn't culturally knowledgeable whatsoever. None of this seems to get her down, though, and Jade retains a level of confidence in her unique abilities. She likes exploring and hunting, interests inspired from her grandfather, and science.
Though happy most of the time Jade can and will get explosively angry. From her behavior and appearance no one ever expects this from her and, to be sure, it's very rare. Yet beware when she does get that mad because, as Karkat found out, she will lay the verbal smackdown on people. However she has a high tolerance level for her emotions and although she wears her heart on her sleeve she is good about keeping herself in check. She tolerated the trolls for a good long while before she finally showed irritation with them and finally blocked them from talking to her.
Over all a kind and cheerful girl, Jade is a main asset to her friends and is always there to support them no matter what the situation.
THIRD-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE:
The snow and cold chilled her to the very bone. Wrapping her arms around herself, Jade shivered as she made her way through it. It was deep and hard to push through. Becsprite shimmered above her, following her loyally as she made her way back towards the remains of her home. She had attached her Lunchtop to her hip so that she could stick her hands in her armpits for warmth. It was a beautiful land, where ever it was, but Jade was definitely not dressed for the occasion and could not properly enjoy it.
When she finally pushed through the door and stumbled inside she let out a long breath of relief. She shivered again and watched Becsprite float off, disappearing to who knew where. She wasn't worried. She could call on him if she needed him and he would be right there by her side. She removed her hands and breathed hot breath across her stiff fingers. She was relieved to be inside but her thoughts were troubled.
"Okay..." She told herself. It helped to speak out loud. "Let's see... Upstairs, right? Right!"
Stomping some snow from her feet Jade started forward. Everything was kind of a mess thanks to the events that had brought her into the medium. She was still kind of disoriented but she was sure that would go away in time. She was just happy to finally be where all her friends were. She still felt out of loop and she hated that feeling. She wouldn't be any help if she didn't know what had been going on lately. She'd have to count on her friends to catch her up. She had no doubt that they would help her, though, so everything would be just fine.
Jade's head pounded and she winced but forced herself to keep going. She grumbled quietly to herself, still angry at the stupid trolls for making her headache that much worse. She was never going to talk to them ever again if she could help it! Ugh.
But for now the more important thing was to answer the message blinking on her Lunchtop. A message she hoped was from one of her friends.
