I think you need to be careful what you're calling "high art," because, from what it sounds like, a lot of the artists that you're describing would be the ones to disagree with that qualification. And also with "not making sense to a majority of people." But I won't turn that into a thesis right here.

Also, I think you can be completely dedicated to something. You're a section leader in the band, for fuck's sake. That screenplay is very good, so do what you think you need to with it. GO FOR IT. That is all.

yeah... I actually have no idea what "high art" is, but I was thinking about shitty independent films, or like weird modern music that has no melody or musical merit in the classical sense, or like some other stuff... like the art that David Sedaris did when he was a heroine addict.
