YES! *piteous faces ensue*

...I think I'm going to at least start one as a reward soon, though. They're just so yummy! They tempt me! They... they even tell you the brush size and grain and opacity to get those effects, for heaven's sake! That's hot! How am I supposed to completely resist that?

sadly, right about now is when I would stop letting the dogs run free in your backyard.

you need a fenced area that isn't PERFECT snake territory.

It is less perfect snake territory now it's not teeming with snakefood (I haven't seen any chipmunks at all there in several months), but yeah.

And even in a different yard, there are still coyotes and foxes to worry about. Or giant, pissy raccoons. Meh.

On another note, I got to meet Jim Butcher last night at a "reading" (actually, more like a stand up comedy show) and signing!

If you ever get a chance to go to one of his signings, go! He's right now working on the next Codex book!

(Oh, and the best story of the night was that the Codex Alera series was created on a bet with another internet loudmouth that he couldn't write a good book based on a bad idea. Our esteemed Mr. Butcher then wrote back, well, he could write a good book based on two bad ideas!! The ideas that were given to him were "The lost Roman Legion" and "Pokemon"! So, yeah... can you see it?)

*giggle*

That is SO WEIRD. I just now-- I mean literally just-hit-send-on-the-comment now-- recommended the Codex Alera series to somebody else (despite having some quibbles with the patterns in the series overall, since I really like other things he's done with it).

Oh, god. I can see it, too.

I CHOOSE YOU, BRUTUS!

Bwahahaha.

Yeah, there are quibbles, but no author is perfect... and I *really* enjoy reading his books. (Especially the Codex series)

Oh, he also mentioned he wants to start a new series in a Science Fiction world. (OMG GLEE!)

Yay! More good authors writing! The world needs that. Gives it to us, preciousss! *bounces*

[Edited to add-- agreed. Nobody's perfect, though sometimes I sort of miss my less critical preteen and young-teen days when I still thought a few writers could do no wrong.]
