Llama Toenails

Dec 26, 2009 14:44

My brother just got a late gift in the mail: an armband/anklet of llama toenails from an historian whose focus is Latin America. They have holes punched in them and they're attached to a cloth band. They make a nice rattle when he shakes them. I heard them from the other room and thought, "bones? rainstick?" No. Llama toenails.

After thinking about this some more, we realized that llamas don't have toes. So I guess they're llama hoof-shavings. I like the sound of "llama toenails" better, but "llama hoof shavings" is less nasty.
