There Once Lived a Woman Who Tried to Kill Her Neightbor's Baby by Ludmilla Petrushevskaya

How did you like this. I love Petrushevksaya and have read most of the stories in that collection in Russian (it's incredibly difficult) but have yet to check out that specific translation. I thought they were a lot more humorous than her other stuff. If you liked it I really recommend Sally Laird's translation of her novella "The Time: Night" and another collection of short stories called, "Immortal Love." I really hope she starts to get more recognition. I think she's brilliant.

I really liked it. The subtitle to the American edition is "scary fairy tales", but they were more creepy, or grim, sometimes, than scary.

I can't imagine reading them in Russian. Reading Lermontov is hard enough for me.

I will definitely check those out.
