Silence

Well, I can see by how long it's been from my last update that I have been in a time of silence and withdrawal. Every few months I just get tired of communicating with the world and withdraw. I don't update, I don't post. Most days I don't even go online to check email or webcomics. I even withdraw at home and tend not to go outside much ( Read more... )

You should do fine. I gave a sermon once. What pastor took 15 minutes to do, I got done in 5 minutes.

Pray for Marilyn. As you might have heard, she just had her gall bladder removed. She still has 2 gall stones in her common bile duct. We will be seeing a specialist in Indianapolis on Monday to see about getting them removed. If not removed, Marilyn may have to have major surgery to get them removed.

Pray for me. I forgot to duck and now I am Head Elder at our church. Better yet, pray for my church.

Yours in Christ,
Brother Dan

Well I managed to not be too nervous. I only fumbled a little when I read the Gospel. And I made my friend, Diane, giggle when she realized that I had cut down my actual sermonizing time by incorporating a minute and a half of silence into my sermon. But it was well received by the smaller than usual crowd.

Of course, the reward of a job well done is more work, so who knows how long it will be before Pastor Bill sticks me into the preaching rotation.

We've been praying for Marilyn and for you. I wish we lived closer so I could help out with the kids and the like, but you will always have our prayers.

And I think your church is blessed to have you in a leadership position. You have really grown up a lot and have turned out to be a fine man. Sometimes during high school I wasn't sure that would ever be the case, but I guess that just shows you God's grace at work.

Love,
Sister Amy

from the heart, only tell your stories, if you have a great introduction and go off on several tangents come back to the beginning and close it off. And if you use your kids or husband always get their permission! Love hOpe
