I have to say I love the ending, and this is my personal theory of it.
I believe the "girl by the sea" was another version of Koume, or at least some kind of history is repeating itself where a boy and girl will get together on that beach and find photos of the couple before them. If you have ever read Nijighara Holograph, it reminds me of the ending to that.
To be honest the ending really got to me, but i'm glad he did what he did, even if he obviously went mad at the end.
But yeah, I spoke to you previously about Asano's short Cigerrette Anthology comic. I hope to god someone translates it.
Haha, I totally forgot about the "girl by the sea" and had to read the whole first volume again. But hmm, I agree, I kinda get that history is repeating itself feel, that everyone on the beach lost and found something important. Like Isobe lost his brother and found the girl on the camera, and Koume lost Isobe and found closure maybe? Idk, but honestly I love the ending even though it left this emptiness in my chest. And I haven't read Nijigahara Holograph yet, will check that out.
What do you think happened to Isobe? Did he get arrested? I'm honestly still super confused about the visions of a couple kissing during the last chapter, because it looks like Koume and Isobe, but I'm pretty sure they've never kissed in public.
Thanks so much Frostoria ! But... the feeling it gave me at the end is.. sadness. A huge sadness. To see her smiling, to see her made the boys crazy about her without loving them in return... And the end about Isobe... It was very hard !! At the beginning, I don't recognize him, but I try to convince me that the end of their relationship means for him to live and won't want to die anymore. It's like when the boys love her, they love and enjoy life ? But it was hard, really. I have so much pain for all the boys who love her so much for the rest of their lives and I don't understand the real feeling of Koume...? She seemed to love Isobe so much and wanted to be in pain with him for the rest of her life ? Why does she love pain and hurting so much ? Could it be she was a really bad girl like evil in this story ? She needs to see guys suffering for her ? I think I have to read the whole volume to find the answer again, lol !
Same here, I just have this emptiness and sadness in my chest whenever I think about the ending, even though I love it for how realistic it is. I wonder if I'm more sad for Koume or the boys she's leading on. Because honestly, even if she's nowhere near as messed up as Isobe is, it seems like she still doesn't know what she wants, doesn't know how to let go or be honest with herself
