YAY! Congrats! We would've done that, too, except we didn't listen to the news until Monday. Damnit! Now let's hope those right wing bible thumpin' activists don't get their way and get those licenses thrown out. :)
I know, it was all really confusing. We heard about it Friday morning and wanted to go get married but the website said you had to have a marriage license or a domestic partnership already in order to get married. Finally we decided to go anyway, just to see what was going on and to show support for the people who were getting married. When we got there a policeman said all you have to do is stand in line and they give you a marriage license and then do a civil ceremony. So we did :) I kept an eye out, 'cause I kinda figured you two *might* be there.
No matter what the fuckin' right wingers do this is a HUGE first step for gay rights and hopefully will start the ball rolling.
We were doing so much stuff this weekend, we didn't hear anything... but we are going to be in Cali in the middle of March, so we're gonna stop in San Francisco and see if we can still get one. I guess it's possible as long as it doesn't get over turned. Hehe. What exactly did you have to do to get the license? Did you have to pay and all that jazz? This is gonna RULE.
You go, stand in line, fill out a little blue form, stand in line some more, 25 people come by and make sure you've filled it out right, you go up to a person on a computer, they input your information and you pay them $82, you check it, wait in line some more, they call out your name, you check the info again, you raise your right hand and swear that it's true, sign a form, go wait in another line with your witness, have the civil ceremony performed, wait in another line, pay $13, get a copy of the license and go home :)
