To those attempting to contact the reconnaissance team, I have one thing for you to keep in mind: do not assume they are friendly. It's possible that they do not intend to rescue us at all, and brute force may be necessary. Be prepared to fight before catching their attention.

I would hope that's the universal opinion, but some of the people I've seen attempting to make contact do not seem like the combat type.

Then your warning is quite prudent. Those of us with the will and know-how to engage our enemies will simply have to stand up for those without!

It's possible, though I imagine there are more entertaining things to do than perform arbitrary flybys on other planets.

Our threat level may not be high enough to warrant an attack at the moment. Some attempts to catch their attention could be taken as hostile.

Not unless they're stupid.

If I had a ship and people started shooting flares at me I wouldn't go "Oh I bet they're hostile, MUST DESTROY" I'd go "I wonder why a bunch of people with no weapons are shooting flares at me"

It's difficult to gauge their intelligence at this point, or even if they are human at all. Assuming they are rational beings would be a foolish move on our part. We must proceed with caution.

We need to be prepared for all possibilities, Haruno Sakura. There is very little, if anything, we know about these beings. It is impossible to calculate what their most likely course of action will be, and thus we should be ready for any possible one.

If they wanted to attack us they'd have done it already. I don't know about you, but I'm not helpless, and if they are hostile I don't plan on being easy to target. But I would like to gamble on the chance that they can and will help.

As I have previously mentioned to others, our current threat level may not be high enough to warrant attack. But that is subject to change, especially with the attempts some have taken to garner their attention; such actions could be seen as hostile.

I am not saying we should not try. I am just trying to advocate using caution and thinking things through before recklessly endangering everyone.
