[The Sphere flickers on to show Tieria hovering over what could best be called a mechanical lump, put together by parts obviously taken from the ship. The only flat plane is a large circle of some glassy substance angled on the top, which he adjusts to face the ship; he's set up his little operation on top of the cliffs overlooking the beach, and ( Read more... )

[the craft is small, as ships go. fifty yards across, sleek and white, leaving a distant blue trail from its engines and swept-back wings. it's been making passes the last couple of days, ignoring the agitated reactions of the locales. it wouldn't be the first time chaos has resulted from unexplained vehicles hurtling through the air.

but this reaction is different. early space programs knew one thing: math was the universal language. if you can't broadcast spoken words, broadcast equations. intelligent life would recognize intelligent life.

that apparently works this time. the ship slows, then stops. it's hovering a couple hundred feet into the air, as if whoever is inside is watching the light, as if looking again to prove to themselves that that pattern is really there.

by all intents and purposes, it is.

the craft doesn't move for a long time, but when it does, it doesn't move very far away, settling in the air just above the downed Crucible.

whatever may have happened, it looks like the ship isn't going anywhere]

[ Well then. Mark him suitably impressed, if still unhappy that this prefaces even more space race interactions. ]

Hn. Now we wait.

[He lets out a sigh, obviously relieved; the strain and exhaustion from this endeavor finally starts to show.]

Or they may be waiting for us. It is hard to tell.

Perhaps not for certain, but its position seems to imply we will be the ones waiting. It would be hard to reach otherwise, floating over the wreckage that way...

They might be expecting us to send an envoy for discussions; otherwise, wouldn't they have sent their own unit down to the surface to investigate?

It was only a ten minute break that Lockon Stratos insisted on. But I suppose it may have helped.

I'm assuming you've spoken to him, considering I doubt you could make such a perspective remark based on that single fact.
