As for your question, I think it depends on the situation and form of hypocrisy. Each situation would have it's own unique level, I guess you could call it. Once you break that, or toe the line, or whatever euphanism you want to use, that's when it's straight out lying.
My question to you. Is a lie still a lie if it's formed with the intentions of keeping someone from being hurt?
