Pricy, but frugal

Being frugal isn't always spending the least amount of cash, it's about spending your cash wisely, and on what you want to spend it on.

Along that lines, sometimes the best thing we can do for our frugal lives is spend a lot now, so we can reap a lot of benefits and/or save a lot later.

So: what pricy but frugal things would you recommend?

1. Tivo and premium cable. With the both of them I save a lot on movies and video rentals. Plus, dude - Tivo. There's no wrong to be found there. ;)

2. Quality spices, chocolate, and cheese. Though these may cost more, they pack a lot of flavor. Thus you get more bang for your buck, plus you don't have to use as much per serving.

3. Pet food. The cheaper stuff is cheap for a reason. Better quality food is better for your pet's overall health (plus you may find that your pet eats more of the cheap stuff anyway as it tries to get the nutrition it needs).

So - what's on your pricy but frugal list?
