fic: You Leave These Marks

It’s so simple, touch.  Skin-to-skin contact is the basis of all human interaction.  It’s been proven that the more babies are touched, the better they develop.  Touch is the most reassuring of the senses, a simple hand gesture speaking more than words ever could.

For people, touch is everything.   Somewhere out there is an other half, a better half ( Read more... )

Wow, I really enjoyed this! You've created a novel take on the soul mate fic that I think actually works better than the normal "names appearing on skin" trope - that seems too superficial, but finger prints are so individual and natural that it really could work! Though I guess it'd have its drawbacks - not knowing the gender or name of your mate means searching for them is literally left to chance (Darren following his instincts and trying his best, in the meantime, was really fitting and sweet!).
Loved the idea, the characterisation and the happy ending! :D

Thank you so much for your sweet comment!

That was the hardest part, I think, was thinking about how two soul mates would meet when they literally had nothing to go on, except maybe a sort of hunch or instinct if their bond was particularly strong, like Darren and Chris.
If I could write more in this 'verse I'd probably explore how rare it really is for people to find their Mate, how finding a Mate late in life often ruined marriages, the whole social aspect of it when they're all so saturated in have-to-find-your-Mate culture even though more often than not it doesn't happen.

But now I'm totally rambling about social construct. Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment, I very much appreciate it. xo

No problem!
The rambling was good! There are so many questions that could come from it. Everything about life could suddenly become so much more complicated with this as a basis, even if the end result was simplified - you find someone, and you have physical proof that they're the one. This story seems to be just a stepping stone to something much bigger, if you ever got the chance to write it.
And now I'm rambling back, sorry~! XD
