Interesting article... The crux of it is that levels of a certain enzyme in the brain is what causes or removes fear. Very cool.

I think the teens lack the experience rather than the enzyme. Or possibly imagination....

This is, no pun intended at all, frightening news. Fear creates inhibition, and inhibition is one of those little things that keeps society functioning. And the article claims that the mice lost the memory of the shock- maybe they didn't lose the memory of it at all, maybe they just didn't care- didn't feel the fear. So then what happens when you have someone with the memories of all these horrific events but the memories no longer inspire fear...what kind of reaction will they have to that? Will they become violent? Will their body shut down? will they have some kind of even worse psychic trauma? And what about fear of the future? Fear of consequences?

I don't want people to live in dibilitating fear, don't get me wrong, but just wait until it's ok to treat soliders with it BEFORE they go to war.
