Well, that illness seemed to pass without making much more of a fuss. Strange, with its sudden onset and sudden departure, but I'm not one to question providence ( Read more... )

Do you think it's starting to stabilize?

Entirely possible. I hadn't thought of stabilization, but soon after two or three people leave, another two or three are here. Interesting.

Maybe it's hit a limit? The way it is now, Memento has enough resources to support far more people, so that can't be the reason...

The powers that be aren't as omniscient as we make them out to be? You raise a valid point, actually. It seems that there each time that many people leave the island, there's an equal reaction in people coming. Or at least, since it never feels like there's really less people here.

I'm very glad to hear you're feeling better, Erk.

It wasn't that much of an illness to begin with.

Well, yes but it could have been and that would have been awful. I would have been lonely if you missed work... I bet the books would have been too! And goodness knows I certainly didn't enjoy being sick... thank you so much again for bringing me those books when I was ill! They were all wonderful!

There are other aids there. Izuru, Ren... agh, who's the last one... anyway, it wouldn't be just you. But that was the strangest thing. I didn't even feel sick for the most part.

I, er, apologize for the outburst when I brought them to you.

All of us are always changing: the person that goes to bed tonight won't be the same person that woke up this morning.

For all the questions you asked, I think the answer is 'yes'.

I suppose I shouldn't look into the matter all that much, then. It just, well, feels strange. I know I've changed, but I don't feel like I have, if that makes sense.

Hee. It does. There's a saying that goes 'the more things change, the more they stay the same'. I imagine it applies to people as well.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. I've never heard that one before. Interesting.

If my opinion counts for ought, I believe you've changed for the better.

Ah, t-thank you, milady. I suppose I was just, er, well, reflecting, for lack of a better term, and wondered how I got to where I am.

We have all grown since coming here, milady. In that light, perhaps much of the adversity we have encountered as been worth it.

I was about to say something similar on a lower scale. I can safely say that you've changed for the better as well.
