Cats & Germany

Earlier today, an email came across directed to myself and a couple of other people. Inside it was a directive from our CEO saying that he wanted to get a more local technical support presence for our company in Europe, as the time zone differences was resulting in too many delays in answering questions to customers there. Depending on the airline you might be able to have them in the cabin. As long as they can fit under the seat in front...should help alleivate their stress since they are right near you

If it's primarily a time zone issue, wouldn't it be less disruptive to switch someone in Canada to 2nd or 3rd shift hours? I mean, the hours would obviously be unattractive, but it's not looking moving to Germany is going to have a smaller impact on one's social life.

It's good to consider these stresses on the cats, but I don't think it would really put things beyond the realm of possibility. Obviously, it's something to consider before you volunteer for the Germany job.

The plane ride I'd think to be a minor factor. an apartment or hotel that would take pets is a big one. I think this is the sort of thing you can mention to boss: "If I can bring my cats, I'm very interested."
