Auspicious Anniversaries Approaching

We're now into the latter part of October, and once again my thoughts are not about Hallowe'en and all the fun dress-up that involves, but of the events of 11 years ago that led up to my moving away from California up here to the Vancouver area of British Columbia ( Read more... )

I am moving towards more interactive costuming. Stuff I can talk in. My sister and I went to an amazing haunt in Sussex last night dressed as Ghostbusters. It was amazing! Doing more comic cons, but also more regular charity events. We've been doing the fursuit charity mascot stuff for years. But even the colour run I did on Saturday was great, we dressed as fairies and went around sprinkling people with fairy dust! Nobody else was playing a part like that, we had a great time! Next week I have a 5k dressed as a chicken, and comic con as Angel bunny and a Ghostbuster. I still enjoy the public fursuiting. But convention fursuiting leaves me cold now. But I have found new things which give me more and new types of fun.

I've been watching your posts on FB with the charity runs that you've been doing, and you do seem to be having a great time. Good on you!

Definitely fursuiting at cons has lost it's spark. I would like to find more outlets for costuming around here, but I don't have any family here for backup (as you have your sister), and there doesn't seem to be much other interest from others.

On the one hand, it's really good to hear you are appreciated to the degree that they hate to part with ya... and a lotta them trips ya didn't really relish anyway ;D ..... but yeah, the stagnation thing is a sticky wicket. I s'pose it couldn't hurt to look around and see at least what's out there... good lux!

Totally understand where you are coming from regards the fursuiting, suiting around furs is a bit like preaching to the converted. At least I have the option of the London meets every three weeks, the walks take in tourist hot spots so loads of interaction and photo ops with the public.
