1. Show Me How To Live.
It's an bitter song, and I like that. I love how you could be taken by the whimsy of some of the lyrics: "Built with stolen parts, Telephone in my heart, someone get me a priest." until you get to the chorus, and you hear him demand, "you gave me life, now show me how to live."
2. What You Are.
This song is just so perfect for a break-up song, love gone wrong, delightful and painful all at the same time. There's no so much the influence of Rage here. The cords are rough, and Chris sings"And you ( ... )

This song is slow, beautiful, filled with melody and sweetness.

And did I say, morbidly romantic?

10. The Worm
This song makes me think of djin7 every time. It’s her. It’s rock. It’s kinda angry. It’s just fast and fun.

11.Man or Animal
This song is just hot. Because Cornell is hot. Yes. It’s hot and sexy.

Especially when he says, “you can tie me to the chair.” I drool. And also when he sings, “you give me a heart attack; I will give you more than that.”

Oh, this song has beautiful, sweet sarcasm. And bitter annoyance. I love it.

17. Shape of Things to Come
Now, I was unsure about this album when I first bought it. I’m weird about music. Will never listen to an album all the way through on my first time out. I listen to music I know, and then I’ll peek at the lyrics and see.
However, I listened to this song and was hooked. This song has me. It reminds me of the trouble Chris Cornell is having with the stalker, but also with the politics of the world.
“Given one more try, what would I change? I won’t deny the thought is strange. I’ve done my best and I will no blame. Except on myself.”
18. Wide AwakeThis song is political rock at its heart. This song was obviously inspired by Hurricane Katrina, and its fallout. I still love it. It’s angry, and Swiftian in its rapier-like subtlety ( ... )
